About

IT that has to work, for people who can’t afford it not to.

Zander Custom Services builds and looks after the IT other businesses depend on. We’d rather shape that around how you actually work than sell you a package and hope it fits. Whatever we land on, the number, the scope and the hours are all settled in writing before you sign anything.

Our founder runs production infrastructure for an Australian healthcare company under Privacy Act obligations — virtualisation, storage, backup, identity and mail. Sole technical responsibility for the lot. Every architectural decision made there is one he has to live with at two in the morning.

That’s an unusual background for a consultancy. Plenty of firms sell infrastructure advice without ever having carried a pager for the thing they designed. It’s also why we’re careful about what we take on. We know what an over-promised support arrangement costs, because we’d be the ones paying it.

You get that same standard of work, and your cutover runs outside business hours by design. Starting prices are on the site before you have to ask, the scope is written down before anything begins, and where a job needs a trade we don’t practise, we’ll say so and bring in someone who does.

How we work
01

Fixed price, scoped in writing

You know the number before we start. No hourly meter, and no variation you didn’t agree to. If the scope genuinely changes we re-price it in writing, rather than quietly billing you more.

02

Your maintenance window is our working day

Cutovers run evenings and weekends by design, not as a favour. If you’re in the UK or Europe, your morning is our evening. That usually beats a 2am change window for everyone.

03

You choose who holds it

Keep your hosting, domains, DNS and licence billing in your own name and we’ll manage them for you. Or let us host the lot on one invoice, with the exit written into the contract from day one. Either way you can leave, and either way you’ll know how.

04

Business hours, said out loud

We work business hours and we put that in the contract, so it’s something you read up front rather than discover halfway through an incident. Cutovers are the exception, and they run in your window.

The short version

We’ve had to make all of this work in production, on a night when it mattered. That’s the whole reason we’ll tell you when something isn’t worth doing.
